“Don’t Be Afraid To Live Your dream.”

My dream started with a seed, as an idea in 2011. I grew up playing Monopoly and so I’ve always wanted to own my own board game. But the version that was staring back at me had a jail on the corner and didn’t represent the community where I came from. I don’t know about you, but in my neighborhood, there were no Marvin Gardens or Boardwalks. There were corner stores, soul food restuarants, rolle skates, babershops, Boy’s and Girls Clubs and a Church on the corner. These are the beautiful parts of our community, with good times in our local community that I wanted to highlight. There is a lot of talent in our own community. And we need to support them. I wanted to highlight just a portion of their existence, and remind my generation of what it means to be a community, and a black business owner, so they can teach their children and help them aspire to their dreams. When I think of young kids who have a dream, I want them to play this game and grab ahold of parts of our past and their future dreams. I want them to know that if someone else did it, so can they. I don’t want them to be afraid to live their dreams.

Secondly, I’ve always been passionate about supporting black businesses. Our culture is beautiful. There are some businesses that just make us unique like a duopoly. I wanted to keep that tradition alive for years to come. What better way than to do it with my own board game. And since no-one else was going to do it for us, I did it myself.
